About Me

In case you couldn’t already tell, my name is Tim Ricks and I am a web developer based in Morgantown, West Virginia. Allow me to tell you a little bit more about myself:

Education

While web design has long been a passion of mine, my high school summer job at a bank influenced me to choose to pursue accounting as the focus of my undergraduate studies. So I obtained a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Fast forward a few years and I’m back in school, this time studying what I love. I’m currently nearing completion of a second Bachelors Degree, this time in Information Technology with a concentration in Security.

So to sum up:

  • B.S. Accounting (2008) – West Virginia Wesleyan College
  • Masters in Business Administration (2009) – West Virginia Wesleyan College
  • B.S. Information Technology – Security (2015 anticipated) – Western Governors University

Experience

I’ve been developing websites as a hobby since my first Angelfire website in the early part of the millennium. I volunteered to design websites for classes, collegiate activities and community members.

After graduating college and entering the workforce, it became more and more apparent to me that my “hobby” was actually my passion, and I quickly wished that I had chosen it as my vocation.

Finally in 2012 I began designing websites professionally alongside my career in accounting. For examples of some of the work that I’ve done, please view my portfolio.

Personal

When I’m not working full-time, freelancing or studying, I enjoy spending time with my friends, family and wonderful fiance.

I also enjoy reading just about anything that I can get my hands on, solving puzzles, riding bicycles, playing games and drinking coffee.
